CQC inspection series: Is it well led? - Checklist

Shilla Talati looks at the CQC ‘Provider handbook for primary care dental services’, focusing on one of the Five Key Questions: Is the dental practice well-led?

By ‘Well-Led’, the CQC mean that services are organised so that they meet people’s needs. The regulations covering CQC inspections under the ‘well-led’ category are the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. The new inspection framework and Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs) came into effect as of April 1 2018. The main aspects of well led refer to: leadership capacity and capability, vision and strategy, culture of the organisation, governance and management, management of risk and performance, management of information, engagement and involvement, learning, improving and innovation.
