Age is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010 and it is illegal to discriminate against someone because of their age. Certain unhelpful stereotypes about age can prevent you from benefiting from a diverse, multi-generational workforce. Age discrimination may take place in several different ways, including direct and indirect discrimination, harassment and victimisation. Age discrimination does not just affect older people.
