It is a legal requirement for dental practices to keep accurate records, based on regulations and GDC and CQC guidelines. Dental records need to be up to date and contemporaneous to ensure accuracy. Accurate clinical records can help to ensure that the patient has the correct treatment and can also help with diagnosing the patient’s oral health in the future. Accurate and clear notes can help protect the surgery should the patient make a complaint or have a problem arise in the future from a previous dental treatment.
