Health and safety lead

Shilla Talati looks at how to utilise lead roles in the dental practice to make it more efficient. Here she talks about the health and safety lead.
Summary

Appointing a health and safety lead means that there is someone who can specialise in and take responsibility for health and safety. An overall lead for health and safety would need to have a high degree of understanding of the various aspects of health and safety in a dental practice. The health and safety lead will need to liaise and communicate with other team members in order to ensure things have been completed as required. Liaison with all other leads is important to ensure that the health and safety at the practice is of an excellent level, eg the fire safety lead, the safeguarding lead and the decontamination lead.
