SummaryTheories of quality management and their application have been gaining popularity since the 1930s. Total Quality Management (TQM) aims to improve the quality of products and services through ongoing refinements in response to continuous feedback. TQM processes can be divided into the four following categories: plan, do, check, and act. Another theory of quality management is Kaizen, which is the Japanese for ‘improvement’ or ‘change for the better’, and refers to practices that focus on continuous improvement of processes.
