Summary

For many suffering loss, the enormity of it is such that prioritising work may be incredibly difficult. As a manager, finding ways to support a member of the team returning to work after a bereavement is essential. Be prepared to acknowledge the loss as soon as the team member returns to work. Don’t presume you know how someone is feeling. It may be important to consider phased returns to work, or shorter working days initially.
