Patients expect clinicians to provide as much information as they can, and as clearly as possible. Clinicians must take reasonable steps to effectively convey information to patients who have difficulties communicating e.g. because of language difficulties or a disability. The GDC has established enforceable best-practice communication guidelines. Treatment costs are a major consideration for most patients, and practices must have a transparent pricing system and provide pre-treatment cost estimates.
